McQ Media ‘Radio Station In a Box’

McQ Media’s Danny Webster has developed a efficient solution for clients who want the ability to broadcast live from an office location without having to build a dedicated studio.

“Radio Station in a Box” is a professional, portable collection of broadcast quality equipment that enables live or recorded broadcasting. Pictured is an ‘RSIB’ that’s located at the home office of McQ president/CEO Pete Thomson. The equipment is housed in a Gator brand case that features two racks and a pop-up console that houses the Mackie 12-channel control board/mixer. Also housed is a Gentner phone hybrid which is used for broadcasting phone calls, a Symetrix 528E voice processor, Berringer voice processor and a Furman power supply.

Commenting on the new “Radio Station in a Box” McQ Media president/CEO Pete Thomson said, “I’m really proud of what Danny designed. The “Radio Station in a Box” design is something that Dan and I have been brainstorming for several months. I needed something for my home office that would allow me to do recordings, phone interviews and even go live on the air. And I needed it to be compact and not take over the room. With the ‘Radio Station in a box’ I’ve got everything I need in one box that easily rolls in and out of position. And since it’s housed in a Gator Case, similar to what you see concert tours use for equipment, we can box it up and be on the road in 5 minutes.”

According to Webster, the ‘Radio Station in a Box’ also has room for expansion. “There are several additional equipment slots that are open for more gear. There’s even room for a Comrex Zephyr if live broadcast capability is needed.”
