As we move toward the end of 2013, the Texas Retirement Specialists team is gearing up for their most active time of the year, Christmas and the Holidays! And that means that Dauphinais Poe, President of TRS, is busy preparing for a number of initiatives that will help raise support and awareness for areas charities. Ms. Poe, commenting on the upcoming season, said “Christmas and the holiday season is our busiest time of the year and we love it.” She added that the firm’s commitment to helping others is important. She said, “We have been blessed and feel an obligation to give back to the community especially those who are experiencing physical and financial challenges.”
In previous years, Texas Retirement Specialists has supported a number of nonprofit organizations including The Ronald McDonald House of Ft. Worth, The Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Flags For Fallen Vets, The Salvation Army, Adopt-A-Platoon, Toys for Tots and Cowboy Santas. Jim Poe, CEO of Texas Retirement Specialists, says its one of the most fulfilling things that his company is involved in. Jim Poe said, “Our goal is to have at least one activity or initiative that benefits a charity each quarter. Sometimes, such as Christmas and the holidays, we’ll often end up working with 2 charities.” Poe added that helping others has great significance for a firm that helps people plan for retirement. He added, “Our clients are either in or near retirement and they’re looking for ways that they can make a lasting contribution to the world around them. I know this because I’m over 65 and I know how helping others makes me feel. It gives real meaning to life.”
Texas Retirement Specialists reaches out to clients, friends and family to make their charity work a team effort. In addition, they utilize the airwaves of Dallas-Ft. Worth on their weekly retirement and investment planning radio program, The Found Money Report. Jim Poe said, “When you combine the tireless efforts of our team, our clients and the audience of both WBAP and KRLD, some pretty exciting things can happen.” Poe reports the weekly combined audience of both radio stations to be over 1 million weekly listeners.
Pete Thomson, President & CEO of McQ Media, serves as Jim Poe’s co-host on The Found Money Report. He commented on Texas Retirement Specialists and their community outreach efforts. Thomson said, “I’ve worked with many businesses through my career and I’ve never seen anything like the Poe family and Texas Retirement Specialists. They have a heart for giving, for kids and for making things better. I’m a better giver because my family is involved in Texas Retirement Specialists charity efforts.”
Dauphinais Poe said that helping others at a time of need is an essential ingredient to a happy life. She said, “It’s really pretty simple. When you care, you share.”
