McQ Media Welcomes WAY-FM to DFW

(DALLAS-FT. WORTH, TX)    Radio listeners in North Texas are hearing a new contemporary Christian radio station on the dial as of October 1st.   WAY-FM is now broadcasting on 89.7 FM.   Pete Thomson, McQ Media CEO, stated “I’m very excited to hear WAY-FM on-the-air in Dallas-Ft. Worth.   This is big news for Christian music listeners in North Texas.   WAY-FM is the best presentation of Christian music available on terrestrial radio.”

WAY-FM started in Ft. Myers, Florida 25 years ago when Bob and Felice Augsburg bought their first radio station. Presently, the WAY-FM format is broadcast on over 50 stations nationwide.

Thomson cited two aspects of WAY-FM that he believes will impact the Dallas-Ft. Worth market.   “Their first strength is music.  WAY-FM, because they’re not having to clear the huge spot loads of commercial stations, plays a ton of music.  Listeners who are frustrated with terrestrial radio’s 15 minutes of commercial per hour will love the amount of music that WAY-FM plays.  Beyond that, WAY-FM presents the Christian format in a very authentic and real environment.  Instead of not acknowledging their mission on the air, the DJs on WAY-FM will talk candidly about the problems that people face in life.  This very honest approach combined with WAY-FM’s superb music mix will fill a void for many DFW radio listeners.”

According to Thomson, WAY-FM’s morning program, “The Wally Show”, will also have a big impact on the market.  Thomson said, “The Wally Show will create a lot of talk in DFW.   It’s different than anything listeners have ever heard from Christian radio.”

McQ Media has had the opportunity to assist WAY-FM on several aspects of launching their new DFW station.   Thomson added, “Working in Christian radio has changed my life and my career.   Having an opportunity to serve Lloyd Parker, COO of WAY-FM, has been an honor.  Although our role has been minor in scope, we hope that our efforts help WAY-FM’s launch here in North Texas.”
